Light Repairs and Adjustments
Upcycle Bikes is not a retail bike shop and does not provide the same level of service as local bike shops. However, we do provide access to light repairs and adjustments for our stickered bikes that we have previously distributed.
Riders needing service on their bikes may visit our shop during our regular business hours. Light repairs and adjustments will be made on a first come, first serve basis. Any repairs requiring parts, will incur a small service charge. If a bike will take longer than 30 minutes to fix, we will offer an exchange bike for $40 so the rider does not go without transportation.
Support
Although bikes provide a relatively low cost and low maintenance transportation resource, we realize that they do require proper care and maintenance and do need professional servicing periodically.
The League of Michigan Bicyclists publishes What Every Michigan Bicyclist Must Know. This invaluable resource is published in English, Spanish, and Arabic and will guide riders through the anatomy of a bike, the ABCs of bike safety, necessary safety equipment and tools, and rules of the road.
DIY community repair stations are a great resource, as they provide basic tools and an air pump. Repair stations around greater Grand Rapids can be found using this Google Map, which will be updated perioidically.
