Make a Difference
Support our efforts to make adult bikes safe and functional again in order to provide our riders with a basic transportation resource.
We donate our bikes to refugees, the homeless, women re-entering the workforce, parolees, and those recovering from domestic abuse, addiction, and mental health challenges through many different distribution partner organizations.
A bike provides freedom, independence, self-reliance, and self-confidence. A bike offers new opportunities, new perspectives, and new engagements. And, most importantly, a bike can provide all of these things to a much more diverse and equitable set of users than a car because it is relatively simple and inexpensive to maintain.
Bikes are our operation, but independence and opportunity are what we provide. It’s what the bikes provide, and we hope you’ll join us in providing greater transportation independence across greater Grand Rapids.
Individual Donations
Individual donations enable our ability to purchase parts and supplies necessary to refurbish each bike and to impact each individual rider.
Please consider joining the Upcycle Bikes mission and enabling the cadence of our efforts through a recurring donation.

Adopt a Bike
Since 1956, the League of American Bicyclists has promoted May as National Bike Month. This May, Upcycle Bikes is asking you to consider sharing the power of the bike and enabling a less fortunate individual to realize the freedom and independence that comes from owning two wheels. We are asking you to participate in our Adopt a Bike program. You will receive a full email report on the bike you adopt and the impact that it makes. Most importantly, you will know that you provided a tool that will enable a community member to realize greater independence, greater access, and greater opportunities.
With a donation of $250, you can adopt a bike and make a profound life changing impact on someone in need of basic transportation support in our community. If you’d rather adopt a bike and make a donation on a monthly basis, you can do that, too. Our goal is to have at least 31 bikes adopted before the end of May, one for each day of National Bike Month.

Organizational Sponsorship
As an Upcycle Bikes sponsor, your organization will be a leader in addressing the basic transportation challenges faced by financially constrained individuals and marginalized populations across our community. Your organization will receive recognition on our website and in promotional materials at each respective sponsorship level in support of Upcycle Bikes and our mission.
Your organization will also be recognized at each respective sponsorship level as a champion of our Upcycle Bikes Ride Team. Our team will visibly participate in the 2024 Grand Rapids Gran Fondo, lending awareness to your organization’s commitment to equitable opportunities for community access.
